Nothing to See Here

You'll notice..

That I've made some minor template changes, well, drastic colour changes. Still Azkabanning away too. Slowly trying to finish. Slowly. Ever. So. Slowly. I'd post pictures, but countless rows of stockinette just *aren't* that interesting. :)

Thursday is Yarn Day!

Sure sure, it was also the boyfriends birthday, but for me, Thursday is really yarn day. Funny you should ask why. It's the only day the closest LYS is open late!! So, it was the boyfriend's birthday, which was pretty cool too. He seems happy, and I'm happy, and that's good. And I got to go the the yarn store (where I didn't buy anything, since you asked) and of course, I got my first SP5 package!! It contained yummy goodness. Yeap, yummy goodness.

So, inside was some KnitPicks yarn (in Cape Cod, which I almost ordered just the other day) and books!! I *love* books. Oh my goodness, like seriously, I can't even begin. Brick Lane is one I've been wanting to read, and Ursula, Under too! The other book is one I'm not familiar with, but will hopefully read someday soon. I'm sadly still trying to chug through Michael Chabon's latest, this one seems so much less engaging than some of his other stuff, I couldn't help but think of the main character in Wonder Boys.. Anyway, I got my FAFSA filed, so maybe something will actually come of that this year..

I also swatched up the Cotton Ease for the Apricot Jacket, and got guage: First try, every time ladies. Speaking of size and guage, I uh, tinked the Crusoes. (*!?*) I know, I never tink, but really, I didn't like the pattern on the yarn, and well, it was tight on my leg, and since my Sockapaltwoza pal has about my foot size (read: giant), I decided these could go the way of the Buffalo. I'm looking for a new pattern now.. It's quite difficult when my sock pal has no preferences! I don't have any idea what to make her! I'm thinking actually of some cute ankle socks, to keep in the summer theme. Oh mighty Alison (who is actually hosting th Paltwoza) has a cute anklet pattern that I dig, perfect and summery! Other than that, still plugging away at the Azkaban. AZKABAN OF DOOM. (8 of 14 repeats done) If my coworker doesn't pee her pants when I give it to her, I will be sad. ^_^ Anyway, time to watch Naruto with the boyfriend. A big special OMGOODNESSTHANKYOU once again to my secret pal too. Seriously, I needed a pick me up today, between the package and yarn day, I couldn't have hoped for much else!

The News Today

Alright, I figured out the camera nonsense. It wasn't hard, I'm just lazy.

Thanks for those who sent encouraging words over the school debacle too. (more)

This weekend Joann's had their Firefly sale, which lead to 6 skeins of Bernat Sox yarn, and 5 skeins of Chunky Wool Ease in a pretty green heather colour. No specific plans for either yet. There was also a really cool Oriental Cross stitch pattern book that I pondered purchasing, but whimped out at the last minute. :) No chance to hit the LYS this weekend, I knew the Koigu would be too tempting, so I avoided! All this looking at socks and working on the Crusoe (Oh, did I mention I'm *not* doing the purl lace anymore) has me wanting socks more than usual even. Oh, the pics. The Azkaban scarf, which is very greyish in the photo. I'm a horrible photographer, I swear it's blue. Also the first part of the Crusoe, and the boyfriend and I at the hospital a few weeks ago. He's the one with the beard, I'm the one making the funny faces. Also, is a horizontal shot of my PC, between our two monitors. Of course, those are 19 inch monitors, so it's tiny tiny. Anyway, not alot else going on. Hope everyone else is doing peachy keen!

I Hate Titles

I have the hardest time coming up with blog post titles. Always have, always will my friends. I've been sooo stressed trying to figure out how to get back in school. It's inevitably only working if I could a) create time, or b) make more money. Which is of course, impossible. It's such a catch 22 isn't it? I want to go to school to become proficient at something, to learn more, so I can theoreticlaly do better for myself, but you know, I can't, because: I don't do well enough for myself already. GO GO AMERICA. *Sigh* ANYWAY, on to the less depressing..

Yesterday was such a good knitting day, I really almost couldn't stand it. WHY you ask? Oh my, aren't we inquisitive? :) You'll have to click click click..

So first, the package I sent to my secret pal arrived, and she loved it! I'm so happy. I get ten points! Second: I started working on my sock for Sockapaltwoza. Third: I decided to make the Apricot Jacket from Rebecca 27, which I picked up at my LYS for cheaper than I could find one quickly online. FOURTH: So, I was leaving my LYS, going to head out to buy some Cotton Ease (because I'm a little strapped for cash right now) to make it, when I notice a Tuesday Morning in the same parking lot. There's been some mention of them carrying Cotton Ease now that it's discontinued, so I decide to stop in. Of course, I've never even SEEN a Tuesday Morning in the DFW area, but like, THERE it was, calling me. So I pop in, look around, almost walk out, and then I see it. Cotton Ease! (Which is actually really soft, it's softer than the Rowan All Season that I was last seen molesting at the other LYS the other day) Not only that, but they had 6 balls of the same lot for 12$. Sold my friend, totally sold. And the colour:
Popsicle Blue
Popsicle Blue.
I love it. Now if only I didn't have you know, a billion other things to do and not enough time. The only thing that could have made it better was if I'd picked up some super soft sock yarn or something. But alas, the yarn store had no colours that I really wanted. :( Plus, I get off work so late, I never have much time to browse...

Oh, other pictures!

Yeap, and now I go wallow in a pit of despair because I can't afford school. *sigh* Hope everyone else has a fantastic day!

Yep, I'm still talking...

More Pictureless Posting!

Jeez. Bad news first: The boyfriend broke his foot! At the soccer game last night he rolled it and broke his fifth metatarsel. That's the middle bone of the set that connects to his pinkie toe. He's been hobbling around all day. And while it's funny to watch, he does have to use the crutches and visit an orthopedist. Which I guess is a bummer. I've taken to calling him robo-boyfriend. I think it's entertaining at least. I have pictures of us in the ER, but, you know, the camera and Windows aren't getting along, and I can't find the card reader. I emailed the creative brain behind the super-adorable Joeli bag to query the yarn information, but you know, she hasn't gotten back to me. That's cool, I mean, she's probably busy... Or doesn't wanna tell me, in which case, well, I suppose I can spend my hard-earned on other things. :) More Below..

The Good News: I got some Azkabanning done in the ER! Huzzah. I also went Secret Pal shopping a bit more today, and of course, some things happened to slip into my basket for me. I hate when that happens, don't you? ^_^ But really, I love doing this so far, reading her blog and being stealthy (In WoW I play a rogue), doing stuff for others, etc.. I did finally acquire my very own copy of the much coveted: Socks Socks Socks and well, I'm pretty happy about that. I also saw another shot of someone's finished Salina leading me to want that Rowen book all over again. Damn you overpriced Rowen!! I'm also *still* continuing the long and painful search of finding something that I can wear to keep me warmer during the days at work (my office is chilly) and after I eat, because I get chilly. Something that isn't going to break the bank. Rebecca has a pretty cute Ballerina Wrap thingie, but the yarn for it is of course, pricey. And doesn't seem to say how much of it one would require to complete it on their Online Pattern, which would be a great problem in completing it, now wouldn't it? I've seen some Apricot Jacket pics, and it's cute too, but I'm just not sure if it's me.. I'll shop around patterns for awhile I suppose..

The Neutral News: I think I've decided to say fuck it, and take out a billion dollars of student loans, and try and go back in time for Fall. Yep, that way I go back to school, and have a very valid reason to quit the job that sucks my life force from my body. Oh, and last week's Six Feet Under.. I'm still not sure quite what I think, I'll probably have to watch it again or something.. Yeap, so, I guess that's it. Time to shower and sleep so I can go to work tomorrow. One day I'll be an artist or something where I don't have to do this 8:30-5:30 bullshit. Until then kiddies!

Always a Dreamer

I added some linkies, joined two more web-rings, and updated a few miscellaneous things.. I wish I had more time to be arty. DIY stuff makes me quite the envious. Every time I see someone else's stuff, I wish I had nothing but free time. :(

I also found The New DPNs of my dreams! (via Alison @ the Blue Blog) These need to be available in sz 0-2 too, so I can knit socks with them.. Though the threes are probably good too.. These are going on my things I need to own list..

Anyway.. The rest of this post has little to do with knitting. I guess it has more to do with the reasons that I like to knit, or well, the reasons I like to do most things. I guess really, it's all about me. It's my blog afterall, sometimes, I can do things like that, if you're interested, click-on!

I suppose I'm at the place in my life that most people hit when they're middle aged. Or well, when they're in high school. I have no idea what I want to do with myself. See, I've put off going to college for a couple of years now, because well, I thought for certain I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I tried that out, and well, it wasn't what I expected, or wanted, at all. So now, I do nothing. For quite awhile, I waited tables. Doing the bare minimum recquired to get by comfortably. That life style was a lifestyle I enjoyed usually. I got to not work too much, and made enough money to do more or less what I wanted to do. Sure, I could always make more, but I'd say most people can. Eventually of course, the things that draw me to that lifestyle are things that drive me crazy. I get tired of the inconsistency, the "dead-end" aspect, and putting up with all those damned people. So I quit, go back to the office world. Of course, this office world is vastly different from the old office world, but it works. It makes me thoroughly miserable, takes up all of my time, and slowly sucks my soul from my body. But, it pays the bills. Of course, I'm always looking for the next great thing. Wanting to do more, trying to decide what that could be. Right now, I look at alternatives, and the only way I see out of this is going back to school. It's one of those grass is greener affairs, I just know it. When I waited tables, I hated it, I wanted an office job. Now, I want what I used to have back. I'm envious of my roommate (who is in turn, miserable with his own situation), and his waking up at noon and accomplishing nothing for 85% of the day...

The problem still is, and always has been, that I don't have any fucking clue what I want to do. I like working with my hands and I like writing. I've always been able at many things, adept at none. I cannot find anything that I'm suitably skilled at that I enjoy doing. Crime history interests me. The relationship between religion and politics interests me. Statistics interest me. Politics (theory only) interest me. People (theory only) interest me too. There's nothing that's really a career field for that stuff that I know of. Well, teaching. And man, I really, really hate people. Meh, I guess I just needed to say it, I know it doesn't really accomplish anything. Hopefully I'm back in school this fall, but I suppose it may, or may not, happen...

Cleaning House...

I'm doing lots of blog editing today. I usually run everything on my test blog before it ends up here, but in the case I don't.. Things may be broke! But look:

Long posts won't spam the front page anymore!!!

Sockapaltwoza!

I know, I did just agree to knit something else. On a timeline even. Jeez, I'm so screwed. ;) No no no, hopefully I manage to work things out so that I actually figure out a way to: CREATE TIME. Yeap, that will be the solution! Blarf. Looking for stuff to send to my pal. I also uh, went to the Woolie Ewe today for about ten minutes. Yeap, getting off work so close to the time of close is so fun sometimes. hehe. I signed up for yet another soccer league this summer (that makes two), but we probably won't play softball. So I guess I lose Wednesday nights, but gain Tuesdays. Anyhow, knit knit knitting away at the Azkaban scarf. I'm very, very close to being done with the first ball (of three) in the main colour. So.. close, and yet so far away. Still need to retrieve camera...

Row By Row..

Wow, it's already time for ANOTHER uneventful post. I'm only a couple rows off of the fourth pattern (out of 14) for the Azkaban scarf. I think I said that yesterday too. Ha! The new issue of Spun Magazine is out, and I'm mostly unimpressed. Most of the stuff I see knitted up just isn't my kind of thing I guess. Still a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl, but I'm thinking of giving the Geisha Socks a go. I have some cheapy sock yarn floating around here somewhere. I misplaced the camera with the pics of my new PC and the Azkaban scarf on it. I think it's at the boyfriend's house. I should find it. I need more free time. Oh my goodness, anyone see the new Six Feet Under?! How was it?!

Me 'n My Pals

All is well for me in the land of SP5! I've heard from my secret pal, and messaged and heard back from my pal as well. So good! My secret pal gave absolutely zero clues, as he or she said nothing about themselves! I suppose that's the idea though, hehehe. Almost done with another repeat on the Azkaban scarf. I'm really afraid the thing will eventually need it's own bag or something. I'm almost done with the first of three balls of main colour yarn I bought for it, so I *should* have enough! Oh, and I forgot! The great folks over at Brittany sent me not one new needle, but a whole set! I was only expecting one, so getting more than you're expecting is always a win! Other than that, just trying to decide what to cast on after the monster.. err.. Azkaban scarf is finished. As the boyfriend pointed out though, at my current rate, I *should* be done by it's November due date!

5'4, 125 lbs of Fury!

Alright, it's not really a great knitting post, but: we won our soccer game! *Boogies down* I play defense, so I basically just run all up in everyone's face, which is loads of fun. Luckily, it doesn't recquire much skill either, I just act agressive and try and steal the ball. Yeap, that's more or less it.

NO! Wait! Just kidding. I got my secret pal information today, and am very much the figuring out what to do with it. My pal's blog seems pretty cool, so I'm pretty excited about deciding what to give my new buddy. Yeap. I guess that's it now. Well, that and trying to find time to knit. I've been soooo busy with work lately, which leaves little time for me and the needles. I did however take the time to put together my new pc today, I should have pics of it in the next couple of days. It looks like a Mini. I really think that it's impossible to look at it without uttering the word 'cute.' Believe me, I know.

Math = lose.

So, I was browsing the knitty boards earlier today, when someone started asking about knitting speeds. So, I knew I was knitting for an hour at the boyfriend's softball game last night, and I knew I finished 7 rows on the Azkaban scarf during that time. I then calculated that there are 50,310 stitches in the scarf. I finished 630 stitches last night, which means I will spend EIGHTY HOURS working on this scarf. Eighty. Hours. One more time: Eighty. Hours. On the upside, I concluded I only have: about 63 left! *sigh* In any case, it's been a busy week, and will continue to be one. Work gets longer and more irritating starting tomorrow. I was however given some special award in front of the entire company yesterday. Vastly hurting my desire to stay anonymous and unseen. We also lost our softball game last night, which is of course, unfortunate. In other sad news, the pattern from next the Fall Interweave that I want is done on itty bitty needles. Itty bitty needles much like the ones Hush Hush is sitting on being slowly. (Read: so slowly) worked on now. I think after this endeavor, I'll probably never want to knit a big huge project on itty bitty needles ever again. There is also the *HOT* pattern for Joeli that I now want want want. That bag is adorable, I want to put my greedy mitts all over it... Man, if I could just get a job at a yarn store, I'd get rid of the job I hated, PLUS be able to knit more. Oh my goodness. Any yarn stores in the Dallas area hiring?! ;)

I'm also waiting with super bated breath for the whole Secret Pal process to start. Mine hasn't gotten to me, and I haven't gotten one yet. Rox promises by the 4th. Which is also the day FedEx anticipates having my hot new PC here. So much to look forward to, if only more time was on the list!
