I know, I know, updates lately are few and far between. Last weekend was the wedding in Kansas (from which I have tons of pictures, that I haven't even begun to look through) and this weekend was horrible family drama and bullshit. Sometimes it's so fun I could vomit. Anyway, the knitting has been quite a secondary thing lately, so there hasn't been a whole ton to post anyhow. Hopefully once I get everything back re-arranged, I can get back into it, but until then: It will be a little stop and go. Much love to everyone, and I'll update as soon as possible!

Test Blog

If anyone is interested in the neat-o things I have in store for the site:

I'm currently building My New Home. I came home to:

This guy

My Knit Picks Order

And my super hot package from my Secret Pal. Who is awesome. Seriously.

And at least while I was at the doctor's I got some knitting done..

Whitby Socks from Knitting on the Road

Let's see.. Where to begin, since I've been gone, I uh, finished the Azkaban scarf, and gave it to the lady at work. Oh my goodness, I thought she was going to pee her pants. This of course, made me happy. I gave it to her on Friday, and told her to have a very happy Harry Potter day on Saturday. She wore it all day. I was so proud. Dude seriously, it made knitting for eighty bajilliondy minutes so totally worth it. I also finished my Sock Pal's sock

I promise I washed my feet first

These actually took so little yarn that I may make a pair for myself out of the matching skein. Oh my goodness, I'd look like such a goon. "Here are your socks complete stranger, I have a totally matching pair!" But they were comfy when I was modeling them.

If you can tell in the Knit Picks order though, I'm doing good on sock yarn, that's four pairs (OH MY GOODNESS, OR EIGHT ANKLE SOCKS) there, and my pair of Cigar Gloves too. Of course, I'm not keeping all that sock yarn. That in conjunction with the probably 4 pairs-worth I bought at JoAnn's Firefly sale, and the two pairs I bought there on sale last night is enough to keep me busy. I really don't need enough socks to knit my way to the moon or anything. Yet.

And my secret pal, who could not have timed it better, I got a nice note (which was really nice), a new Ipod cozy (that is modeled above, already carrying my Ipod), an awesome brooch (which I'm wearing tomorrow), and: The Comfort Zone DPNs. Oh my goodness. My Secret Pal is the bestest person like ever. Which reminds me, I actually need to get some free time, to make it to the post office, so I can send *my* pal her next package. The last bit arrived today. (Note: I suppose if my secret pal happens to read my blog, and receives something she happened to spot on my blog, I suppose my cover is blown!) Other than that, working on my questionnaire for the Knitty SP5 (soo confusing..) and working on my new blog. Yes, I'm probably relocating my little slice of the net, I'll definantly keep it updated as to what happens and where I end up. I hope everyone else has a knit-tacular day as well!

Alive

Dear Secret Pal,

Though tempted, I did not click the link to your web page. Thoughts, opinions? Me personally, I just don't see me making like, anything in it. Yeap, that's right, well, maybe Cigar. Maybe. Not for smoking reasons, but because, well, because I use those three fingers most in knitting too. ^_^. Me personally, I can't imagine the boyfriend wearing any of it. And the Obey scarf may just be a little too cool for me. If not too cool, It could just be that I'm still slowly making my way through the Azkaban scarf, and another two months of Stockinette more or less just isn't my bag. Of course..

New techniques could be learned. I've never intarsiaed before. I'm not sure what that verbs into, but I figure I like 'intarsiaed' and well, I'm gonna use it. Maybe it will be like the time my friend convinced me to help him bring the word 'righteous' back into popularity. He lasted about a month, and years later, I still say the word righteous. That's right kids, you heard it here first, I'm so totally lame, that sometimes it hurts. Other than that, I got the new KnitPicks catalouge in the mail today, and in it were some pretty lace alpaca scarves that I could own the pattern for and make all three for under twenty dollars. Seriously, it's so stupid it hurts. I don't even really wear lacy things, but I'm sure I could incorporate it somehow.

Speaking of which, I need to buy new clothes. I wake up every day and scrounge for clothes because well, I work at an office now, and they don't let me wear jeans and a t-shirt. My old offices always did, but here it's at least slacks. Total bummer. I did however buckle down a bit wilst working this weekend, and churned through the rest of the ninth repeat on the Azkaban scarf (progress had halted completely), got about half-way through the right ankle sock for my sock pal, and well, got at least a little ways into the second (of three) ball of the Ribbed Shrug. And Christine left me a note with pattern info for that super cute dress she made. I wonder if I could toss that on with a shrug for work.. Could I tax deduct the yarn as a business expense?! Man, talk about the IRS being screwed. I'd just spend all of my income on yarn, instead of most of it!

Oh crap, the new Interweave was out today. I meant to hit the bookstore and at least look at it. Work kept me late today, and intends to keep me late tomorrow. However, they're building a new Starbucks relatively close to where I live, and man, I doubt seriously I could hate that job like I hate mine. (go go optimism!) That and I think they don't care if my hair were to be bright pink. (I know, I changed the colour-scheme and it all just got hazy, right? It wasn't that no one reads, I just know it ^_^) So, here's a pic of the first third or so of the Ribbed Shrug from the Summer 05 Interweave.

Paton's Katrina - Glacier

And a thread over on the Knittyboard made me start to think I could maybe use some point protectors. I don't ever use them, but a bit of inspiration occured while I was at the store the other day, when I passed by some Crayola Model Magic. And I had to make some penguins to protect whatever projects I'll toss on Size 8s. (Read: Apricot Jacket).

Aren't they cute?

Hopefully they're durable enough to withstand my wear and tear! Looking at my pictures here, I really need to become a bit more adept with the old camera I think. Happy Fourth of July for those of the American persuasion! I will celebrate my holiday by: working! Because my job sucks. At least I'm getting paid double, which is almost something to celebrate. :)

Oh yes, for the obligatory something completely unrelated, this MIT student is doing a survey for his thesis. Funny you should ask why. It's the only day the closest LYS is open late!! So, it was the boyfriend's birthday, which was pretty cool too. He seems happy, and I'm happy, and that's good. And I got to go the the yarn store (where I didn't buy anything, since you asked) and of course, I got my first SP5 package!! It contained yummy goodness. Yeap, yummy goodness.

So, inside was some KnitPicks yarn (in Cape Cod, which I almost ordered just the other day) and books!! I *love* books. Oh my goodness, like seriously, I can't even begin. Brick Lane is one I've been wanting to read, and Ursula, Under too! The other book is one I'm not familiar with, but will hopefully read someday soon. I'm sadly still trying to chug through Michael Chabon's latest, this one seems so much less engaging than some of his other stuff, I couldn't help but think of the main character in Wonder Boys.. Anyway, I got my FAFSA filed, so maybe something will actually come of that this year..

I also swatched up the Cotton Ease for the Apricot Jacket, and got guage: First try, every time ladies. Speaking of size and guage, I uh, tinked the Crusoes. (*!?*) I know, I never tink, but really, I didn't like the pattern on the yarn, and well, it was tight on my leg, and since my Sockapaltwoza pal has about my foot size (read: giant), I decided these could go the way of the Buffalo. I'm looking for a new pattern now.. It's quite difficult when my sock pal has no preferences! I don't have any idea what to make her! I'm thinking actually of some cute ankle socks, to keep in the summer theme. Oh mighty Alison (who is actually hosting th Paltwoza) has a cute anklet pattern that I dig, perfect and summery! Other than that, still plugging away at the Azkaban. AZKABAN OF DOOM. (8 of 14 repeats done) If my coworker doesn't pee her pants when I give it to her, I will be sad. ^_^ Anyway, time to watch Naruto with the boyfriend. A big special OMGOODNESSTHANKYOU once again to my secret pal too. Seriously, I needed a pick me up today, between the package and yarn day, I couldn't have hoped for much else!

The News Today

Alright, I figured out the camera nonsense. It wasn't hard, I'm just lazy.

Thanks for those who sent encouraging words over the school debacle too. (more)

This weekend Joann's had their Firefly sale, which lead to 6 skeins of Bernat Sox yarn, and 5 skeins of Chunky Wool Ease in a pretty green heather colour. No specific plans for either yet. There was also a really cool Oriental Cross stitch pattern book that I pondered purchasing, but whimped out at the last minute. :) No chance to hit the LYS this weekend, I knew the Koigu would be too tempting, so I avoided! All this looking at socks and working on the Crusoe (Oh, did I mention I'm *not* doing the purl lace anymore) has me wanting socks more than usual even. Oh, the pics. The Azkaban scarf, which is very greyish in the photo. I'm a horrible photographer, I swear it's blue. Also the first part of the Crusoe, and the boyfriend and I at the hospital a few weeks ago. He's the one with the beard, I'm the one making the funny faces. Also, is a horizontal shot of my PC, between our two monitors. Of course, those are 19 inch monitors, so it's tiny tiny. Anyway, not alot else going on. Hope everyone else is doing peachy keen!

I Hate Titles

I have the hardest time coming up with blog post titles. Always have, always will my friends. I've been sooo stressed trying to figure out how to get back in school. It's inevitably only working if I could a) create time, or b) make more money. Which is of course, impossible. It's such a catch 22 isn't it? I want to go to school to become proficient at something, to learn more, so I can theoreticlaly do better for myself, but you know, I can't, because: I don't do well enough for myself already. GO GO AMERICA. *Sigh* ANYWAY, on to the less depressing..

Yesterday was such a good knitting day, I really almost couldn't stand it. WHY you ask? Oh my, aren't we inquisitive? :) You'll have to click click click..

So first, the package I sent to my secret pal arrived, and she loved it! I'm so happy. I get ten points! Second: I started working on my sock for Sockapaltwoza. Third: I decided to make the Apricot Jacket from Rebecca 27, which I picked up at my LYS for cheaper than I could find one quickly online. FOURTH: So, I was leaving my LYS, going to head out to buy some Cotton Ease (because I'm a little strapped for cash right now) to make it, when I notice a Tuesday Morning in the same parking lot. There's been some mention of them carrying Cotton Ease now that it's discontinued, so I decide to stop in. Of course, I've never even SEEN a Tuesday Morning in the DFW area, but like, THERE it was, calling me. So I pop in, look around, almost walk out, and then I see it. Cotton Ease! (Which is actually really soft, it's softer than the Rowan All Season that I was last seen molesting at the other LYS the other day) Not only that, but they had 6 balls of the same lot for 12$. Sold my friend, totally sold. And the colour:

Popsicle Blue.
I love it. Now if only I didn't have you know, a billion other things to do and not enough time. The only thing that could have made it better was if I'd picked up some super soft sock yarn or something. But alas, the yarn store had no colours that I really wanted. :( Plus, I get off work so late, I never have much time to browse...

Oh, other pictures!

The Boyfriend's Broke Foot!

The Blue Ballers (Yes, that's *really* my soccer teams' name.)

Yeap, and now I go wallow in a pit of despair because I can't afford school. *sigh* Hope everyone else has a fantastic day!

More Pictureless Posting!

Jeez. Bad news first: The boyfriend broke his foot! At the soccer game last night he rolled it and broke his fifth metatarsel. That's the middle bone of the set that connects to his pinkie toe. He's been hobbling around all day. And while it's funny to watch, he does have to use the crutches and visit an orthopedist. Which I guess is a bummer. I've taken to calling him robo-boyfriend. I think it's entertaining at least. I have pictures of us in the ER, but, you know, the camera and Windows aren't getting along, and I can't find the card reader. I emailed the creative brain behind the super-adorable Joeli bag to query the yarn information, but you know, she hasn't gotten back to me. That's cool, I mean, she's probably busy... Or doesn't wanna tell me, in which case, well, I suppose I can spend my hard-earned on other things. :) More Below..

The Good News: I got some Azkabanning done in the ER! Huzzah. I also went Secret Pal shopping a bit more today, and of course, some things happened to slip into my basket for me. I hate when that happens, don't you? ^_^ But really, I love doing this so far, reading her blog and being stealthy (In WoW I play a rogue), doing stuff for others, etc.. I did finally acquire my very own copy of the much coveted: Socks Socks Socks and well, I'm pretty happy about that. I also saw another shot of someone's finished Salina leading me to want that Rowen book all over again. Damn you overpriced Rowen!! I'm also *still* continuing the long and painful search of finding something that I can wear to keep me warmer during the days at work (my office is chilly) and after I eat, because I get chilly. Something that isn't going to break the bank. Rebecca has a pretty cute Ballerina Wrap thingie, but the yarn for it is of course, pricey. And doesn't seem to say how much of it one would require to complete it on their Online Pattern, which would be a great problem in completing it, now wouldn't it? I've seen some Apricot Jacket pics, and it's cute too, but I'm just not sure if it's me.. I'll shop around patterns for awhile I suppose..

The Neutral News: I think I've decided to say fuck it, and take out a billion dollars of student loans, and try and go back in time for Fall. Yep, that way I go back to school, and have a very valid reason to quit the job that sucks my life force from my body. Oh, and last week's Six Feet Under.. I'm still not sure quite what I think, I'll probably have to watch it again or something.. Yeap, so, I guess that's it. Time to shower and sleep so I can go to work tomorrow. One day I'll be an artist or something where I don't have to do this 8:30-5:30 bullshit. Until then kiddies!

Always a Dreamer

I added some linkies, joined two more web-rings, and updated a few miscellaneous things.. I wish I had more time to be arty. DIY stuff makes me quite the envious. Every time I see someone else's stuff, I wish I had nothing but free time. :(

I also found The New DPNs of my dreams! (via Alison @ the Blue Blog) These need to be available in sz 0-2 too, so I can knit socks with them.. Though the threes are probably good too.. These are going on my things I need to own list..

Anyway.. The rest of this post has little to do with knitting. I guess it has more to do with the reasons that I like to knit, or well, the reasons I like to do most things. I guess really, it's all about me. It's my blog afterall, sometimes, I can do things like that, if you're interested, click-on!

I suppose I'm at the place in my life that most people hit when they're middle aged. Or well, when they're in high school. I have no idea what I want to do with myself. See, I've put off going to college for a couple of years now, because well, I thought for certain I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up. I tried that out, and well, it wasn't what I expected, or wanted, at all. So now, I do nothing. For quite awhile, I waited tables. Doing the bare minimum recquired to get by comfortably. That life style was a lifestyle I enjoyed usually. I got to not work too much, and made enough money to do more or less what I wanted to do. Sure, I could always make more, but I'd say most people can. Eventually of course, the things that draw me to that lifestyle are things that drive me crazy. I get tired of the inconsistency, the "dead-end" aspect, and putting up with all those damned people. So I quit, go back to the office world. Of course, this office world is vastly different from the old office world, but it works. It makes me thoroughly miserable, takes up all of my time, and slowly sucks my soul from my body. But, it pays the bills. Of course, I'm always looking for the next great thing. Wanting to do more, trying to decide what that could be. Right now, I look at alternatives, and the only way I see out of this is going back to school. It's one of those grass is greener affairs, I just know it. When I waited tables, I hated it, I wanted an office job. Now, I want what I used to have back. I'm envious of my roommate (who is in turn, miserable with his own situation), and his waking up at noon and accomplishing nothing for 85% of the day...

The problem still is, and always has been, that I don't have any fucking clue what I want to do. I like working with my hands and I like writing. I've always been able at many things, adept at none. I cannot find anything that I'm suitably skilled at that I enjoy doing. Crime history interests me. The relationship between religion and politics interests me. Statistics interest me. Politics (theory only) interest me. People (theory only) interest me too. There's nothing that's really a career field for that stuff that I know of. Well, teaching. And man, I really, really hate people. Meh, I guess I just needed to say it, I know it doesn't really accomplish anything. Hopefully I'm back in school this fall, but I suppose it may, or may not, happen...

Cleaning House...

I'm doing lots of blog editing today. Looking for stuff to send to my pal. I also uh, went to the Woolie Ewe today for about ten minutes. Yeap, getting off work so close to the time of close is so fun sometimes. hehe. I signed up for yet another soccer league this summer (that makes two), but we probably won't play softball. So I guess I lose Wednesday nights, but gain Tuesdays. Anyhow, knit knit knitting away at the Azkaban scarf. I'm very, very close to being done with the first ball (of three) in the main colour. I'm only a couple rows off of the fourth pattern (out of 14) for the Azkaban scarf. I think I said that yesterday too. Ha! The new issue of Spun Magazine is out, and I'm mostly unimpressed. Most of the stuff I see knitted up just isn't my kind of thing I guess. Still a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl, but I'm thinking of giving the Geisha Socks a go. I have some cheapy sock yarn floating around here somewhere. I misplaced the camera with the pics of my new PC and the Azkaban scarf on it. I think it's at the boyfriend's house. I should find it. I need more free time. Oh my goodness, anyone see the new Six Feet Under?! How was it?!

Me 'n My Pals

All is well for me in the land of SP5! I've heard from my secret pal, and messaged and heard back from my pal as well. So good! My secret pal gave absolutely zero clues, as he or she said nothing about themselves! I suppose that's the idea though, hehehe. Almost done with another repeat on the Azkaban scarf. I'm really afraid the thing will eventually need it's own bag or something. I'm almost done with the first of three balls of main colour yarn I bought for it, so I *should* have enough! Oh, and I forgot! The great folks over at Brittany sent me not one new needle, but a whole set! I was only expecting one, so getting more than you're expecting is always a win! Other than that, just trying to decide what to cast on after the monster.. err.. Azkaban scarf is finished. Luckily, it doesn't recquire much skill either, I just act agressive and try and steal the ball. Yeap, that's more or less it.

NO! Wait! Just kidding. I got my secret pal information today, and am very much the figuring out what to do with it. My pal's blog seems pretty cool, so I'm pretty excited about deciding what to give my new buddy. Yeap. I guess that's it now. Well, that and trying to find time to knit. I've been soooo busy with work lately, which leaves little time for me and the needles. I did however take the time to put together my new pc today, I should have pics of it in the next couple of days. It looks like a Mini. I really think that it's impossible to look at it without uttering the word 'cute.' Believe me, I know.

Math = lose.

So, I was browsing the knitty boards earlier today, when someone started asking about knitting speeds. So, I knew I was knitting for an hour at the boyfriend's softball game last night, and I knew I finished 7 rows on the Azkaban scarf during that time. I then calculated that there are 50,310 stitches in the scarf. I finished 630 stitches last night, which means I will spend EIGHTY HOURS working on this scarf. Eighty. Hours. One more time: Eighty. Hours. On the upside, I concluded I only have: about 63 left! *sigh* In any case, it's been a busy week, and will continue to be one. Work gets longer and more irritating starting tomorrow. I was however given some special award in front of the entire company yesterday. Vastly hurting my desire to stay anonymous and unseen. We also lost our softball game last night, which is of course, unfortunate. In other sad news, the pattern from next the Fall Interweave that I want is done on itty bitty needles. Itty bitty needles much like the ones Hush Hush is sitting on being slowly. (Read: so slowly) worked on now. I think after this endeavor, I'll probably never want to knit a big huge project on itty bitty needles ever again. There is also the *HOT* pattern for Joeli that I now want want want. That bag is adorable, I want to put my greedy mitts all over it... Man, if I could just get a job at a yarn store, I'd get rid of the job I hated, PLUS be able to knit more. Oh my goodness. Any yarn stores in the Dallas area hiring?! ;)

I'm also waiting with super bated breath for the whole Secret Pal process to start. Mine hasn't gotten to me, and I haven't gotten one yet. Rox promises by the 4th. Which is also the day FedEx anticipates having my hot new PC here. So much to look forward to, if only more time was on the list!

The Inevitable Return

I am so back now! After a blogging hiatus (omgoodness, so little time) I intend to, you know, get back to posting. Sadly, I have been knitting, it's just not anything interesting enough to keep anyone updated on. Since last: Finished not one, but TWO Ipod cozy things; Started on a pair of socks (broke a needle, waiting on replacement);Finished Pasha (except assembly); and finished a two blocks into the Harry Potter Azkaban scarf, in Ravenclaw's Blue and Bronze for a co-worker.

I've been reading others' blogs and lurking around knitty, knitting, working, playing WoW, playing softball, soccer, and wakeboarding. Aside from that though, same old same old I suppose... Anyhow, like everyone else in the online-knitting-world, I've joined SP5, and here is my little quiz thingie. I can't wait for this, I so enjoy giving things to people! Here we go!

1. Are you a yarn snob (do you prefer higher quality and/or natural fibers)? Do you avoid Red Heart and Lion Brand? Or is it all the same to you?
Yes and no I suppose.. I very, very much prefer working with nice stuff, but I usually don't buy anything without something in mind to do with it. Sometimes though, cheaper stuff is the best thing. Sometimes the best thing is something cheap. My ipod doesn't need to be covered in hand painted wool or anything, but you know, I'd like to be!

2. Do you spin? Crochet?
No, oh my goodness, do you? I'm so jealous. I don't have the time, money, or space really to spin. As far as crocheting goes, I do, as in, I know how to, but I really don't do it. Because, well, it just isn't my thing. I crocheted like.. 50 snowflakes a year or two ago and haven't even wanted to look at a hook since.

3. Do you have any allergies? (smoke, pets, fibers, perfume, etc.)
I don't like anything super heavy perfumey or smokey, and the significant other is allergic to pets. Other than that, papayas are the only thing (aside from bug bites) I'm allergic to. (Read: don't send me bugs! hehehe)

4. How long have you been knitting?
Well, many moons ago my grandmother taught me to knit and crochet (We're talking super basic, knit-purl stuff here). She told me how superior crocheting was, so I did that. I decided I hated it, and stopped both for, forever. Until last year when I moved to Ohio, decided I needed cold weather clothes and repicked up the habit. Luckily, I'm no longer in Ohio, but still knit like it's going out of style.

5. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?
Of course. I even updated it! I only mildly updated my amazon wishlist, but I'm also over on myspace, which has more info about music and movies that I like, and probably more personal info. If you need my handle, let me know.. (I'm a bit of a music and film whore..) As far as books go, I read alot. Mainly modern fiction these days: Brett Easton Ellis, Chuck Palahniuk, Jonathan Lethem, Michael Chabon are the books I usually pick up and oogle..

6. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products etc.)
I like.. citrusy things, some floral.. Anything that's light smelling, and won't overpower everyone in the house.

7. Do you have a sweet tooth?
Yes, but my whole family is diabetic, so I try very hard to avoid them.. :) I bought a candle that smells like oatmeal raisin cookies, and it was gone in a week! :)
8. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do?
Is everything an answer? I love working with my hands. I do model cars mainly these days, if I have time to not knit that is. I also enjoy cross-stitching, and have an odd place in my heart for painting by number...

9. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)
I bought an ipod a month ago and my boyfriend is afraid it will replace him in my life. :) My music taste is fairly eclectic, but these days it's alot of indie rock, garage rock, punk, underground hip hop, lo-fi.. The last five albums I bought: Gorillaz, The - Demon Days; System of a Down - Mesmerize; Ben Fold - Songs for Silverman; Nine Inch Nails - With Teeth; Pavement - Wowee Zowee..

10. What's your favorite color? Or--do you have a color family/season/palette you prefer? Any colors you just can't stand?
I'm not a bright or pastel fan. I usually stick to darker tones, muted earth tones, etc. I have fairly light skin with olive undertones, so I can't pull off pinks and oranges too well.

11. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?
I live with a roommate whom I never see.. Other than that, it's just me. I work at a lawfirm, save money for school, and uh, I guess that's it. :)

12. What are your life dreams? (really stretching it here, I know)
Well, since I'm 21 and work at a job I hate and don't make enough money at, #1 goal is to go back to school for.. something! :) Other than that, there's not a lot in the big picture, like most people around my age, I sort of live day to day. I want to learn to surf though...

13. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with?
I <3 soft yarns. Since I live in Texas it's not terribly reasonable for me to knit in tons of lopi wool and stuff like that. Cashmerino, alpaca, stuff like that is my absolute favouritist. Of course, I'm also messy sometimes and need stuff that isn't destroyed should it get some diet soda spilt on it or anything..

14. What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?
Not a big mohair fan really, it usually just is too.. hairy for me. It's soft, but I always just want to shave it. hehe. Other than that, I detest like 98% of novelty yarn.

15. What is/are your current knitting obsession/s?
Looking for sock patterns, making a blocking board, been on a knitting with pretty tiny needles kick for a bit too now I think.. I've also been looking for a good cardigan type thing to wear when I get cold, it's becoming an obsession. (Cardigans for those under the age of 30, who primarily wear jeans and t-shirts)

16. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?
Looking at all the projects I've completed, I'd say I usually go for things that are fairly portable and small. But those are of course, probably why they're done. hehehe. I enjoy knitting socks quite a bit, and really more than anything, like knitting something for someone I know who will enjoy it.

17. What are you knitting right now?
Like, actively knitting, or are possibly going to be completed sometime ever? ACTIVELY, I'm knitting a Harry Potter Azkaban scarf for a pregnant co-worker. I'm waiting on a new needle from Brittany so I can continue work on the Go With the Flow socks from Summer's Interweave, and Hush Hush from knitty. There are other things sitting in the mysteriousness that is my stash, but we don't talk about them, because if you don't think about them, they're not there. :)

18. What do you think about ponchos?
Well, to save space, let's just say that Manolo and I agree on the subject. But I mean, if you like ponchos, that's good for you and all, they're just.. not for me.

19. Do you prefer straight or circular needles?
Uhm, I usually knit however works best with the pattern. I have no problem knitting flat or circular, if pressed I'd say I have more nice flat needles than circulars, so I might pick that. (I hate most of my circular pairs.. hehe)

20. Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?
I prefer wood usually. Except for really tiny sock needles. I'm waiting for another needle for my Brittany sz. 1s because I accidently snapped one in half making a pair of socks. Or a nice set of Addi Turbos, I'll make an exception there.

21. Are you a sock knitter?
With that question, I feel as though it's a crime! But yes, sock knitters are sock knitters, that's for sure. I usually make really cheap pairs, but own a few nice pairs. Handdyed and soft just make my feet feel sexier. ;)

22. How did you learn to knit?
There was the aforementioned story. Plus a book. I forget which book, but I read it and re-learned. Originally my grandmother taught me, and she learned from elementary school in Austria.

23. How old is your oldest UFO?
Like I said, they sit in my stash. I don't bother them, they don't bother me. ;)

24. What is your favorite animated character or a favorite animal/bird?
I have a special place in my heart for Stitch (From Disney's Lilo & Stitch). I also dig penguins..

25. What is your favorite holiday?
Any day where I don't have to work? :) I guess I don't really have one..

26. Is there anything that you collect?
Yarn? Needles? Row Counters? No, not really I guess. :)

27. What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?
I buy Interweave usually, and browse Vogue every issue (and sometimes buy), I look at Rowan2 and Rebecca as well if given the chance..

28. Any books out there you are dying to get your hands on?
I'd like some sock pattern books, but I'm not dying for any particular book persay. My amazon list has some. The last book I really considered buying was Teva's New one, Loop De Loop.

Okay, there is more information about me than anyone can ever want. Use it in good faith my friend! I can't wait to read my Secret Pal's! *giddy noises*

Worst. I haven't updated much. I started a new job that I work at all of the time, and I can barely keep my eyes open. I've barely been knitting even. I'm a few rows into Hush Hush, and working on Pasha with some spare Lamb's Pride wool I had laying around. Still looking for a good cotton for that cute bag from Knitty this season.

Not a lot else going on, trying to keep my head up. Hell, I've been a bad knitter even, I've barely touched my needles since last time I posted. But! I did manage to make it to buying some yarn at least, nothing too fancy though, I'm kind of thrifty.

The green is two skeins of Cascade 220 wool, the multi is some Bernat Sox, in the Jazz Hot colourway. (My new favourite super, super cheap sock yarn) Last night I CO for Knitty's Broadripple Sock Pattern but about twelve rows in, decided I just.. didn't like it. We were having DNS problems last night, so instead, I decided to just kind of do my own thing for a pattern. We watched Return of the King, so I've actually already turned the heel, and am about to start on the gusset. We'll see how it goes I suppose. I'm usually not much of a free-range knitter, but I'll toss some pics up when I feel like arguing with my camera again. Also waiting on my yarn for Hush-Hush, which the thought of seems to be making the boyfriend a very happy guy. Spring Knitty should be up in a day or two as well, so I imagine that there'll be something in there I can't live without and will have to buy yarn for too. ;)

In non-kniting news, I start my new job on Tuesday. While this week of unemployment has been fun, I sure do miss not being in the house most of the 24/7. :)

And for everyone who peeked at the new Knitty when it was obviously not intended, SHAME ON YOU! That is all.

Nothing but Trouble

asdf. Yeap. So, I turned the heel in my sock today, and started working on the foot part, and when I tried it on, what I knew to already be true, in fact was. The lower part of the sock is actually a bit too big for my leg. Too wide. Now, I had a suspicion this would happen from the get-go. In fact, I'd tried to avoid it even, I'd taken out a couple stitches, decreased more, and made the sock shorter. All in attempt to make the thing fit. I guess I could frog half way up the leg, and decrease more without making it look too obvious somehow, or I could just quietly give up on the damn thing, and try and salvage my knitting dignity. Speaking of destroying my knitting dignity, I must have tried to cast on for Backyard Leaves ten times last night.
